Why the homeowner upgraded the system

Original 2008 builder roof at 17 years. No insurance claim — they were paying cash and wanted to invest in the home for the long term. Walked them through three systems: Atlas Architectural, Atlas Pinnacle Pristine, and a competing premium line.

They chose Pinnacle Pristine in Weathered Shadow for the heavier mat profile (looks more substantial on a 10/12 pitch), the StreakGuard algae protection (relevant on the north-facing field), and the extended manufacturer warranty available through Atlas Diamond Contractors.

Ventilation rebuild

Stone Canyon homes from the 2007–2010 build wave often have under-balanced ventilation. This one was textbook — ridge venting was correct linear footage but soffit intake was effectively blocked by insulation in roughly 60% of bays.

Cleared intake, installed continuous baffles, rebuilt ridge vent to balance new intake. Attic now operates within 18°F of outdoor ambient instead of the 45°F+ delta it had been running.

Two-day install

Day 1: tear-off, decking inspection (four soft sheets replaced), full ice-and-water shield in valleys and eaves, dry-in with synthetic underlayment.

Day 2: Pinnacle Pristine install, hand-cut hip-and-ridge, copper drip edge in the front field per homeowner request. Magnet sweep, walkthrough, lifetime workmanship paperwork delivered by 5:00 PM.

Frequently asked

  • How much more does Pinnacle Pristine cost vs Architectural?

Typically 12–18% more for materials on most Owasso homes. On a Stone Canyon-sized roof that worked out to about $2,800 incremental — recovered through the extended warranty and longer roof life.

  • What's the attic temperature improvement worth?

Hard to calculate exactly, but cooler attics mean longer shingle life and lower summer AC cost. The Stone Canyon homeowner reported a noticeable AC efficiency improvement the following summer.

  • Does Atlas Diamond Contractor status matter?

For the extended manufacturer warranty, yes — it's only available through Atlas Diamond Contractors. The warranty extension is meaningful on a premium system.
